In Accra,
the capital of Ghana live over 10.000 streetchildren. They mostly
come from the rural areas and leave home at an age of 14 to 17. They
sell on markets and along the roadside. Their income is about €1
a day. Not only boys but increasingly girls have found their way
in the streets. They work on the many markets as kayayoos (Porters).
The girls often get pregnant. They are offered help by Street Girls
Aid, where they can stay during their pregnancy. Other help come
from a Dutch organisation, CAS. |
